The story of wood-fired raclette
“Two Valaisans were working in their vineyard in the mid-19th century. It is a cold autumn day and at midday they lit a fire to warm themselves. For their meal, they brought with them rye bread, alpine cheese, and white wine from a barrel. As they stand very close to the fire for warmth, one of them notices that his cheese begins to melt. To avoid wasting anything, he takes his pruning knife, called a ‘raclette’, and scrapes the melted cheese onto his bread.”
Thus was born the wood-fired raclette, which we strive to serve you in the most authentic way possible.
